Nō reira, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā tātou koutou
Tēnā koutou katoa,
It is with a deep sense of pride and excitement that I write to you as the newly appointed Principal of Paihia School. To lead this excellent school into its next chapter is both a privilege and a profound responsibility, and I am eager to begin this journey alongside our students, staff, and whānau.
Our school is anchored by a unique and powerful history. I want to express my firm commitment to mana whenua, acknowledging the enduring guardianship of Ngāti Kawa and Ngāti Rahiri. It is my priority to ensure that Paihia School continues to build a strong bi-cultural foundation, where Te Tiriti o Waitangi is lived in our daily practice and where our local stories and te reo Māori are woven into the fabric of our learning.
While we are grounded in our local heritage, we are also a vibrant, global community. We are incredibly fortunate to have a rich tapestry of cultures represented within our gates. I am dedicated to ensuring that every student—no matter their background—feels a sense of belonging, is celebrated for who they are, and is supported to achieve their highest potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
Our goal is simple: to see every child thriving, attending, and succeeding. I look forward to meeting you all at the school gate, on the sidelines, and in the classroom as we work together to lead Paihia School toward a bright and successful future.
Ngā mihi nui,
Chris Bell,
Principal - Tumuaki
