Project Island Song

On Thursday 24th August some students from Te Maunga and Te Ngahere were chosen to go out to the islands for Project Island Song. Project Island Song is a group of volunteers that go out to the islands, trap pests (possums, rats, mice, stoats and etc), plant native trees to encourage other native birds to come back to the island. The Explore team took us out to Urupukapuka. Without their help we would not have been able to go to the islands. From there we were handed over to Debby and BJ, who are part of Project Island Song program. We were split into two groups of twenty and we were off doing projects to help the island. One group did planting and the other made traps or tracking tunnels. We had a great time and are very grateful to the supporters and helpers. Here are some of the amazing photos that were taken:
